2021-05-26 FINALLY the CommScope DB636-C (8.1 dBi) omni antenna was delivered. That ended a 3 month backorder wait-time for this very important part of the installation. The CommScope DB636-C has a very impressive Maximum Wind Speed rating of 220 mph (354 km/h) as well as a better than average dBi gain of 8.1. For high-level repeater operations in hurricane country that's very important for survivability and performance after an event.
Conversely while the CommScope's very popular line of exposed dipole antenna's are great for repeater operations too they have much lower Maximum Wind Speed ratings. Both great antenna's in their own rights, but in our opinion not when you compare survivability as one of the key factors. |
